Step Down Of Energy From Primal Source

The Five Elements & The Twelve Meridians

In the oriental system, the step down of energy from the Primal Source or Tao
takes place through the five elemental theory of Earth, Metal, Water, Wood and
Fire Elements. The flow of these elemental forces through the body takes place
by way of energetic organ meridians or energetic rivers.

The yin-yang polarity of
Spleen-Stomach may assume Earth element characteristics.
Kidney-Bladder may assume Water Element characteristics.
Liver-Gall Bladder may assume Wood Element characteristics.
Heart-Small Intestines may assume Fire Element characteristic

Creation and Destruction

Within this system, the polarity principle of creation
and destruction exists.

Water creates Wood.
Wood creates Fire.
Fire creates Earth.
Earth creates Metal.
Metal creates Water.

In contrast to this.

Water destroys Fire.
Fire destroys Water
Metal destroys Wood
Wood destroys Earth
Earth destroys Water.

Health is maintained by the continued movement of prana or life force through the meridians,
maintaining balance of these opposing forces, the organism achieves a constant state of good health.
It is the therapist role to recognize any potential state of imbalance and help to remove any obstacle
that may impede the smooth flow of energy around the body.

12 Pulses of the Wrist

As the prana or chi flows through the body it assumes different characteristics embodying
different laws of nature. The quality and quantity of prana or chi may be recognized by pulses
of this energy throughout the body, specifically located at the wrist joint.

24 Hour Cycle

Below we see the cyclic movement of prana through the organism in a 24 hour period.
The polarity of the positive-negative relationship of the organ system creates the ability
for movement in that system. According to the law base on the daily rhythm there is a
relationship between organs which receive their maximal flow at opposed times.
The Heart, has its maximal activity at 12 o'clock mid-day, and the gall bladder has its
maximal activity at mid-night. The negative-positive-negative relationship maintains the
ability for movement in the system and health to be maintained.

When the ancients studied the movement of celestial bodies, the rotation of the planets
around the sun, counting off the days, months, and years, they did so not only for dates
in order to successfully plant and harvest their crops, but to determine in which area
of the physical and celestial, or body-mind, the prana or life force was concentrated.

The Microcosmic Orbit

As the energy moves up the governing vessel, positive, male hot, yang increases, as it
comes down the conception vessel negative, female, cold, yin increases. The energy passes
through twelve gates. These gates are expressed as 12 binary archetypal hexagrams.
