Kutas Analysis - Traditional Method
Kutas analysis consist of analyzing 12 Factors. Every factor contributes
some points, toward a maximum total score of 36 points.
We analyze how well the Moon Nakshatra of one person harmonizes with the
Moon Nakshatra of the other person.
A more Sophisticate analysis in which not only the Nakshatra in which the
Moon is compared but also the Nakshatra of the Ascendant, Sun, Mercury,
Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn may be utilized. In taking an average on
planetary scores we can gain another perspective on the compatibility of
the couples relationship.
Just comparing the Nakshatra in which the Moon of one person is located
with the Nakshatra in which the Moon of the other is placed is quite limited.

The 12 Factors of Kuta Analysis
1. Dina Kuta (3 pts)
If Nakshatra of Man is 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 Nakshara's from
the Nakshatra of the Woman 3 points are given. If mans moon nakshatra is
located 9 or more nakshatras away the number is divided by 9 and we work
with the remainder. Ex. Nakshatra is 14. 14 divided by 9 = 1.
The remainder = 5. Because remainder is 5 no points are being given.
2. Gana Kuta: (6 pts)
Temperaments - Deva, Human, Demon.
People who have their Moons in Nakshatra that fall in the same category can marry.
Deva Man & Deva or Human Woman = 6 pts
Human Man & Deva Woman = 5 pts
Human Man & Human Woman = 6 pts.
Human Man & Rakshasa Woman should not marry = 0 pts.
Rakshasa Man & Deva Woman = 1 pts.
Rakshaka Man & Deva Woman should not marry = 1 pt.
Rakshaka Man & Human Woman = 0 pts.
Rakshaka Man & Rakshaka Woman = 6 pts.
When the Lords of signs in the Rashi or Navamsa of the Man & Woman are the same bad
Gana Kuta results can be compensated. (this does not change the points)
Deva Gana (Deva) - Ashwini, Mrigashira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha,
Shravana, and Revati.
Purva Ashadha, Uttara Ashadha, Purva Bhadrapada, and
Uttara Bhadrapada.
Rakshasa Gana (Demon) - Kritika, Ashlesha, Magha, Chitra, Vishakha, Jyeshtha,
Mula, Dhanishtha and Shatabhisha.
When the Lords of signs in the Rashi or Navamsa of the man & woman are the same
bad gana kuta results can be compensated (this does not change the points).
3. Nadi Kuta: (8 pts)
Nakshatras are divided between 3 temperments Vata, Pitta, Kapha.
The Moon of the Man & Woman should fall in Nakshatra of a different dosha.
It is also recommended that the Moons do not fall in the same rows of
the scheme below. This important because points to be gained is 8 pts.

4. Rashi Kuta - (7 pts)
Different from factors which are shown above.
This deals with the SIGNS in which the Moons are located and not the Nakshatras.
Good Result - Moon in chart of the Man is in the 12th (gives longevity),or the 7th.
Good Result - Moon in the chart of woman is in the 2nd (gives longevity of couple),
3rd (gives happiness), 4th gives great wealth, 5th (enjoyment & happiness),
6th (progeny will prosper), 7th (agreement from and mutual happiness) from the
Moon in the chart of the Man.
Bad Results - Moon in chart of the man is in the 2nd (evil results will follow),
3rd (misery and sorrow),4th (great poverty),5th (unhappiness will occur),
6th (loss of children) from the Moon in the chart of the Woman.
Bad Result. Moon inchart of the Woman is in the 12th from the Moon in the
chart of the Man.
- When both signs are owned by the same planet inauspicious effect will be cancelled.
- When bad results coming from a crtain number are the opposite of the good results.
-If good results exist or if bad results are cancelled 7 points will be
given by the factor.
5. Graha Maitram - (5 pts)
One of the most important kutas that examines the pychological disposition
of the couple. It reflects the mental compatibility and affection for
each other.
Factor dependent upon the friendhips or animosities of the Lords of the
Moon signs of the couple.
- When Lords of the Moonsigns are Friends. (5 pts)
- When Lord (A) is friend to Lord (B) & Lord (B) is neutral to Lord (A) this is good. (4 pts).
- When both are neutral Graha Maitram is mediocre. (3 pts)
- When one is friendly and the other is inimical. (1 pt)
- When one is neutal and the other is inimical. (1/2 pt).
- When both are enemies Graha Maitram is (0)
- However if a friendship exists beteen the Lords of the Moonsigns
in the Navamsa 3 pts are given instead of zero, 1/2 or 1 pt.

6. Vasyu Kuta - (2 pts).
This particular kuta is important in assessing the degree of magnetic
control or amenability the husband or wife can have to influence the
other person.
Some signs have a certain degree of magnetism to influence each other.
Vasyu Kuta makes understanding each other easier.
- If Moon of Female feels magnetism toward the Moon of the Male (1 pt).
- If the Moon of the Male feels magnetism toward the Moon of the Female (1 pt).
- If Magnetism exists from both sides (2 pts).

Supposed to be an indicator of the spiritual development of the partners.
Brahmin (priests) - Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces.
Kshatriya (politics & war) - Leo, Sagittarius, Libra.
Vaisya (business) - Aries, Gemini, Aquarius.
Sudra (manual labor & service) Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn.
If Woman in higher category as the Man. (0 pts)
If Man is in a higher category than the woman. (1 pt)
If they both belong to the same category. (1 pt).
8. Yoni Kuta - (4 pts)
Sexual compatibility. Each Nakshatra is asociated with a different type of Yoni.
Each division has a Male & Female Yonis.
It is best if both partners are born in Nakshatra which symbolize the same Yoni
type, but of different sexes. If the couple has friendly Yoni's of the female
sex, marriage it will be acceptable. It will be difficult if the two people
both have male Yoni's.
(Number of points for this test depends on the Yoni combination).

9. Five Types of Rajju. (0 Pts)
The couple should be from different Rajju's or difficulties
chould arise.
Example - Revati, Nakshatra #27 is a complicated match with other
Nakshastra's in Padarajju #1, #9,#10, #18 and #19.
They will always be traveling or in motion, thus they may never settle down.
This is mentioned in Kuta Analysis but not points are given.

11. Vedha - Nakshatras which afflict each other.
A marriage between people who have their Moons in Nakshatras which afflict each
other should not take place.

12.Mahendra Kuta. (0 pts)
Longevity of relationship. The Mans Nakshatra should be 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22 or
25 Nakshatra away from the Woman.
This is mentioned in Kuta Analysis but no points are given.
End of Kuta Analysis
- Total possible Score = 36.
- 21 pts. needed for good match.
- Kuta Analysis based only on the Moon provides only one factor.
Some astrologers say you can compare all the planets and the ascendant by this method.
One can then calculate the average results for all the planets. In this case the picture may very
well you give a very different picture.
